The Gap We Can't Ignore

Written by: Josh Fields

There's a conversation that doesn't happen enough.

What actually happens after services?

We've built systems that support people during the day. Employment programs. Community participation. In-home supports.

But when it comes to where people live long-term, the options shrink fast.

Families carry it longer than they should have to. Waiting lists grow. Opportunities narrow.

And in many cases, people end up in environments that don't reflect how they want to live, but rather what's available.

That's the gap Adam's Way is trying to address.

Not by replacing what exists, but by expanding what's possible — by creating a place where residents with and without disabilities choose to live together, in a community designed around belonging.

We believe housing should be:

Integrated, not isolated Flexible, not one-size-fits-all Connected to real community life

And most importantly, it should be built with the expectation that people can and will contribute to the community around them — regardless of ability.

This isn't about creating space.

It's about creating opportunity.
